Kit; HP BL465c G7 and HP NC551 Dual FlexFabric 10gb Apdapter
Enclosure, C7000 with Virtual Connect Modules
OS; Centos 6.5
Had a very strange issue at a client site today, we had built a new Centos Server on a blade, with OS installed locally, service profile on the virtual connect was set to connect the server to just one VLAN and confirmed to be working.
But when we setup networking and then tried to ping gateway we had no response, network team could see the MAC address of the blade on the switch but not the IP address.
We knew vlan was working as we had an ESXi host of the exact same model of hardware, with a port group connected to the vlan and VMS running on it with out issue.
After spending ages looking at VLAN tagging in the OS, and even considering a different OS, we thought we would try installing the latest HP NC551i firmware as we had the orginal firmware and version 4.1.402.20 states in the release notes and this is the only clear issue of any fix
Added support for the following operating systems:
1. RHEL 5.8, 6.2, Sles 11 SP2
So it was simple job of downloading the ISO from the link below, reboot the server with ISO mounted in ILO, boot to CD/DVD and follow the prompts to install and then reboot, and hey presto networking came to life.
