SRM Install on Server 2012 – Can’t open perl script

If you are installing SRM on Server 2102 before starting set the following registery key to 0;

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation to 0 from 2

2014-11-14 13_21_47-Registry Editor

Otherwise SRM will not install and error during the install with a message similar to;
Failed to update Perl installation directories. Details: Can’t open perl script “C:\PROGRA~2\VMware\VMware”: No such file or directory

If you do get this error you will need to uninstall the SRM postGress DB (if using SRM 5.8), via add remove programs and then remove any left over files as per the below KB. Or easier still just revert back the snapshot you took before you started the install.
